Bayern Munich continued their impressive run in the Bundesliga with a convincing victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
The Bavarians, who have won eight of their last nine matches, dominated from start to finish and were never really tested by the visitors. The hosts created numerous chances throughout the match and took advantage of some poor defending from Leverkusen to score two goals in the first half.
In the second half, Bayern pushed even harder and added another goal through a well-taken penalty kick. Despite some late attempts by Leverkusen, Bayern held on for the win and moved up to third place in the table.
Elsewhere in the league, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane scored twice as his side beat Newcastle United 4-1 at St James' Park. Kane's goals came in the second half, helping Spurs to secure all three points and move into fifth place in the Premier League standings.
Meanwhile, Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling also had a memorable day, scoring a hat-trick against West Ham United. The Englishman helped City to a comfortable 5-1 win and move back into contention for a top-four finish this season.
Finally, it was a great day for young German talent Timo Werner as he scored his first Bundesliga goal for RB Leipzig against Augsburg. Werner's goal gave Leipzig the lead early in the second half and they went on to win the game 2-0.
Overall, it was a busy day for the top flight of European football, with many teams competing for crucial points and honing their chances of securing Champions League qualification.
