Edmilson, the Brazilian striker who has been with Chinese Super League (CSL) club Shanghai Shenhua since 2015, has extended his contract with the team for another two years.

The news was announced on Tuesday, with the player's agent, Leonardo Damião, confirming that Edmilson had signed a new deal until June 2024. The striker, who has scored 67 goals in 148 appearances for the club, is now set to remain at the club until the end of next season.

"Edmilson is a key player for us and we're very happy to have him stay," said Shenhua general manager Li Jingnan. "He's a talented striker who can score goals from anywhere on the pitch and we're excited to see what he'll achieve with us in the coming seasons."

Edmilson's contract extension comes as the club looks to continue its success in China's top flight. Under Shenhua's management, the team has won three league titles and one AFC Champions League title in just over five years, making it one of the most successful clubs in the country.

Despite being in his late thirties, Edmilson remains one of the most consistent strikers in the CSL, scoring crucial goals for the team in both domestic and international competitions. He will be hoping to help the team continue its impressive run this season, as they look to defend their title and make a strong push for the AFC Champions League.
